Introduction To Tech Source

David Kerr is the owner of Tech Source and has over 40 years of experience in the IT industry. David began programming in high school and later helped teach one of the earliest BASIC programming courses while attending college. David’s career spans data services, enterprise IT, and 15 years in the oil and gas construction sector at McDermott International, where he worked in systems administration and later in corporate security and compliance.

After working AT&T Business Services, David founded his own consulting practice, worked in the AT&T Cellular outside sales team, and ultimately acquired Tech Source in 2005. Under his leadership, the company transitioned from a residential break/fix provider into the managed service provider (MSP) it is today. David’s leadership philosophy is heavily influenced by servant leadership principles—shaped early on through his experience as an Eagle Scout and later reinforced as he helped guide his son to earn the same rank through multiple high-adventure scouting programs.

David started Tech Source installing network cabling. From the very beginning, he has loved helping small
businesses, and he truly cares about each one’s success. At the end of the day, what Tech Source does is solve real problems using world-class tools and proven processes. A good example of how we go the extra mile occurred during Hurricane Ida, when the building was without power. The client needed to know whether they would still have internet access if they rented a generator. To answer that question with certainty, Tech Source fully charged a battery backup (UPS) and brought it onsite. We used the UPS to power their basic infrastructure— including the internet fiber modem, router, and firewall—to confirm that the Internet service was available. Once this was proven, a generator was delivered, and the client was able to bring their critical systems back online and continue operating their business.

We are always looking to work with like-minded customers, with five or more computers, and are in the Metairie, Covington, Mandeville, or Slidell areas. We support professionals and businesses across a wide range of industries, including accounting, architecture, automotive, engineering, healthcare, legal, manufacturing, and oil & gas. You’re always welcome to visit our office and see some older — but still-functioning — technology, such as our telegraph or the first electrically powered AM radio. We share this as a reflection of who we are: approachable, human, and not afraid to enjoy a little humor along the way.
Once we understand your business problems and goals, we can use technology to help you achieve both short-term wins and long-term success. Our services range from enterprise-level consulting and compliance support to help desk services, network management, proactive monitoring, and simple computer break/fix services.
